For the pleasure of the British people, Hannah Klugman is writing her history. At just 15 years old, the 623rd ranked player in the world who is still partially playing on the junior circuit is one match away from joining the main draw at Wimbledon.
Invited by the organizers to participate in the qualifications, she has already defied the odds twice. By dominating the 265th ranked player in the world, Petra Marcinko (6-2, 6-2), the local player did even better in the second round.
Facing Linda Fruhvirtova, 147th in the world and seeded in these qualifications, Klugman did not back down, miraculously winning the match (6-2, 0-6, 6-4). Thus, she will have the honor, this Thursday (on Show court 1), of playing the final round of qualifications. Facing her will be Alycia Parks (121st).
In case of victory, she would achieve quite a colossal performance, demonstrating an absolutely astonishing precocity.
